The Kansas City Chiefs began their practice week Wednesday without three starters — right tackle Jaylon Moore, wide receiver Rashee Rice and left tackle Josh Simmons. Kansas City travels to face the Seattle Seahawks on “Sunday Night Football.”

Moore sustained a concussion during Sunday’s win over the Los Angeles Chargers, while Rice missed the game because of a hamstring injury he suffered in the Chiefs’ Week 4 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders.
[–>
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said Monday that Simmons would continue to “ramp up” this week, but the tackle did not practice Wednesday after being a limited participant in all three practices last week.
[–>
Simmons has yet to play in a game this season after injuring his back in August. Wednesday’s absence came with a “back/not injury-related (personal)” designation from the team.
[–>
Moore was replaced at right tackle against the Chargers by Joshua Ezeudu, who played 30 offensive snaps in his absence. According to Pro Football Focus, Ezeudu allowed just one quarterback pressure in 15 true pass sets.
[–>
Reid indicated Wednesday that Ezeudu could once again be the next man up.
[–>
“He’s played before,” Reid said of Ezeudu. “And when we brought him in, we knew that, and we knew he was a good player. So now he potentially has an opportunity to be in there and playing. I thought he did a nice job when he was in there this past weekend.
[–>
“I think everybody around him’s got confidence in him, too.”
[–>
Kansas City acquired Ezeudu in a late-August trade with the New York Giants, sending a 2028 seventh-round pick in return. The Giants selected the 27-year-old lineman in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft under their previous regime.
[–>
After injuries and an uneven tenure with the Giants, Ezeudu became available, presenting the Chiefs with an opportunity to address their line depth. Given their recent injuries, that move is looking increasingly wise.
[–>
If Simmons cannot return against Seattle, rookie Kahlil Benson would be in line to make his sixth straight start.
[–>
With Rice’s status uncertain, wide receiver Xavier Worthy could continue to see increased looks from Patrick Mahomes. Worthy converted all seven of his team-leading targets against Los Angeles for 73 yards, marking his second straight game of 70 yards or more.
[–>
Reid described Worthy’s recent hike in production as less of a breakthrough and more of an uptick in opportunities.
[–>
“He gets a ton of respect because of his speed, obviously, and ability,” Reid said of Worthy. “This week, it was big. He was in a great position against some great coverages for the route that was called.
[–>
“But those things happen, and we try to spread things around. That’s one thing with Pat. He’s going to move the ball around and force a lot of things in there.”
[–>
Depth receivers Cyrus Allen, Jalen Royals and Andrew Armstrong combined for five catches and 64 yards with Rice out of the mix.
